Pangkor has it

by Tony
(Kuala Lumpur)

I have been to all these beaches:

  • Teluk Muroh(before it was swallowed by the Naval Base)

  • Pasir Panjang(opp MFM)

  • Kampong Acheh(now part of Lumut Port)

  • Teluk Batik Teluk Rubiah

  • Teluk Senangin

  • Pangkor Laut Emerald Bay

  • Pasir Bogak(Sam Khoo huts)

  • Turtle Bay

  • Nipah Bay

  • Coral Bay

  • Golden Sands

Nipah Bay, Coral Bay, Teluk Senangin and Teluk Batik have some of the finest beaches in West Malaysia in terms of sand quality and only lose out to Perhentian or Redang islands on the clarity of the seawater.

Pangkor beaches are best for family swimming as there are not much loose broken corals/rocks like those in the East Coast. However I am hugely disappointed with the state of the rubbish disposal situation on the Teluk Dalam side of the Island which is really BAD.

Also I think the tourism situation in Pangkor is deteriorating from the earlier days . The crowd is disappearing. Is that good or bad?

Anyway I think we can do something to repackage the island especially to foreign beach lovers which I think your Website is now doing. I believe to put Pangkor on the world trail of tropical havens we should fine tune the entertainment (eg beers, foot reflexology) scene (something which Malaysians are notoriously not effective for whatever reasons, promotion of local delicacies/products/ culture.
Can Pangkor.com do it? Good luck!
