Marina Island Pangkor - Luxury within your budgetThe Marina island Pangkor is a man made island opposite of Pangkor Town and close to Lumut and the Lumut Naval Base. It is a massive project and finally we can show you some results of the hard work of the last few years.
The Marina Island is reclaimed land. Before the building process started, infrastructure and the connecting bridge to the mainland had to be build. Now the first phase has finished and the first buildings, shop lots, Marina Island Hall, some apartments and the Jetty Complex are mostly finished it's time to have a look around.
What will the Marina Island provide? The idea it to provide luxury properties, a mix of bungalows, residential houses and apartments. This will be complemented with shopping malls, a jetty complex, hotels and activities.
Since the building project started I went several times to see the progress. Slowly the manmade island got shape until in 2012 it started to get a but more lively. Crossing the bridge you will get your first impression of what has already been finished.
The Marina Island is one of the very areas in Perak where you can get a beach villa. Some are almost ready but the bulk building process is still in progress and will be for another few years. I went back to the finished shopping area. It's a nice kind of boulevard where the first businesses already popping up. An ikan bakar restaurant and a kopi tiam have taken the lead.
Although the ikan bakar and kopi tiam restaurants here look a little lost I am sure that will change when the project will progress in time.
Still at the moment the Laguna Service Apartments are very close to the finishing state. It is considered to be the most AFFORDABLE FREEHOLD properties with luxury seafront living atA signature development that promises profitable returns. Amongst the shopping facilities the Marina Island Hall is finished though not yet open.
The Jetty Complex is also in the state of finishing of. It's a jetty complex worthy for many travelers to Pangkor. The complex will include restaurants, ATM, tourist information and there will be a huge carpark (price off peak days RM 10, peak days RM 15).
The jetty itself is pretty nice. I walked around. It will be a very modern and comfortable way to travel to Pangkor. The claim at the moment is that the price of the ticket will be the same as the price in Lumut at the moment, RM 10, 2 ways. This might be a little expensive for the 10 minutes boat ride compared to the 40 minutes from Lumut. ![]() Interested in the Marina Island? Stay at Marina IslandMarina Island, now it is getting more livable becomes another option to stay in this area of Perak, close to Pangkor and Lumut. One option is the Best Western Marina Island Resort Pangkor. With the ferry to Pangkor within walking distance, this is a good choice, especially for families. Another option, popular with locals is the Coral Fishing Resort. It's not really a resort but it has chalets on the waterfront with some OK views towards the main land and Pangkor but you can't go swimming here. To be honest, I would not recommend it as it is far from anything on Marina Island and for around $60 (!) you can get much better accommodation.
