When we look at the location of Teluk Dalam, at the north end of Pangkor island, then it becomes clear that Teluk Dalam is a great place for specific group activities.

This part of Pangkor is very quiet and separated from other parts of Pangkor. Other parts of Pulau Pangkor are never far away. The sea is nearby as Teluk Dalam is located at the beach. Also the dense tropical jungle is at your doorstep.

Team building (or motivation camp) at Teluk Dalam

The visit to Teluk Dalam Resort brought me a very pleasant surprise. Of course, the hotel is great but you read all about that on our general Teluk-Dalam Resort page. There we collected the information about the hotel facilities.

Now the question is: "What is teambuilding?" In principle it is an activity that has to be done with a group of people together. Teluk Dalam Resort has set up 3 great activities in which your team have to build a real team spirit. It should however also be some good fun.

Companies every now and then need facilities for team building to improve the quality of the company or simply to give their staff a good day out. Teluk Dalam Resort has the facilities and a quality staff available.

There are a few "normal" facilities as a conference hall with all the necessary equipment available. This can be a good start for your team spirit building. For teambuilding in a place like Pangkor there's something else available.

The new management has set up a survival trail. The trail consists of three very different and fun parts. There's a couple of extraordinary activities, let's have a look:

You will slide down a hill 10 meter above ground. You will be strapped up in a harness hooked to two cables. The distance is about 100 meters. The General Manager of Teluk Dalam Resort sets the example on the photo here.

Is it dangerous? No, your safety is guaranteed by the iron cable, the harness and a staff of experienced people who know exactly what they are doing. It's fun. To be honest, I went twice and if we have had more time probably a third time too.

High rope single travel
This was a hard one. I was under the impression I could climb up the ladder and walk on the iron rope. Fortunately Mr. Amin, the General Manager told me he wouldn't allow me to do this without any safety harness on.

The idea is simple: one person to walk across one single cable 10 meter above the ground with ropes hanging 2 meters apart as the only support for balance. Each person is equipped with a safety harness and a safety helmet.

Above the cable there are an amount of rope vertical hanging. Now, you walk on the cable, going from rope to rope like I do on the photo.

And thus I got the harness. There was a ladder that I climbed to a little platform. I felt I was safe although about 10 meters above the ground. The harness gave me a bit of stability.

And so I started to move to the other side hanging on the vertical ropes. It was not quite an easy job although it didn't take me very long. I was sweating heavy.

The team building here is to create an atmosphere where the man/woman who's on the cable feel confident enough to cross the cable. With help of the staff you will help the person in the harness and guide him/her over the cable.

Low Rope Single Travel
This is similar to the High Rope Single Travel. Two persons walking across one single cable simultaneously from each side. The cable is 1 meter above the ground and there is only one rope hanging from each side to support for balance.

Once they meet in the middle, they will have to maneuver themselves to the opposite side. Each person is equipped with a safety helmet.

Spider Web
Teamwork to its essence. The team has to transport each team member through a web of ropes with various shape, sizes and height. Each member can only go through one shape once. The body must not touch the web rope. A hard task but a lot of fun.

V – Rope
There are cables with a “V” shape 1.5 meter above the ground. Two person standing at the point the cables joins, each person on one cable. Both of them must move along the cable as far as they can, away from the point. They will hold a stick as the support for balance. Each person is equipped with a safety helmet.

Jungle surviving adventure
Talk about a team, this is real team activity! One wins, all win, as you will see. From the previous two tasks you move to the last one. The management of Teluk Dalam as set out a jungle trek. The trek takes about 30 minutes up and down the jungle hills. At the end of the trek you will arrive at a secluded beach.

Rafting
For an additional RM 20 per person you can raft back to the resort.

After the jungle trekking you will raft back to the resort. This teamwork activity requires building a raft using wooden poles, tyre tubes and rope. Once then raft is ready only wooden peddles are used. With regards to waves and wind, the journey it will take approximately 1 - 1½ hours. Each person is equipped with a life jacket.

A boat with staff of the resort is all the time in the area in case something goes wrong. Safety vests are mandatory. You will always be in the professional hands of the Teluk Dalam staff.

Reunions and conferences

Teluk Dalam Resort has all the facilities for reunion parties and conferences. In fact it is a perfect resort for your reunion or conferences. The reason is simple, everything you need is available and well organized.

There are 5 conference halls. They can be used for conferences and banquets. As you can see, it is suitable for groups up to 180 people. Group activities around the island can be arranged with the staff of Teluk Dalam. There is a bus and boats available for going around the island.
