Me and my fiancee during the engagement ceremony at her house...
Hi Peter,
I'm a Malay and from my experience, a Malay wedding is the most wonderful and enjoyable moments. Every now and then I'm looking forward to attend Malay wedding ceremony whenever I have the chance (..most of the time, I attend every wedding available during 'Cuti sekolah' hehehe..)
However, this year I'm a bit nervous to attend one wedding....my own!! That's right, I'm getting married this year with a beautiful girl from Johor. Her name is Rosniza (kinda cute because her mother picked that name from the place of her birth..a house full of roses..hehe)
We're getting married presumebly on the 30/5/2009..(presume? How can I didn't know when is my wedding will take place? Duh!) Our parents are still discussing on the most suitable date to make sure our wedding ceremony goes well!
We're engaged last month. I would like to share our engagement photo with you and show even a Malay engagement ceremony can be as grand as a real wedding ceremony...just imagine the excitement and buzz when we want to conduct a real Malay wedding...Hmmm...that's why I'm having goosebumps lately...relatives from near and far will come...some of them I didn't even recognize anymore! Friends from childhood buddies to recently known will attend and make jokes around...kompang boys (kompang is a traditional Malay musical instrument) and zapin boys (Zapin, a traditional Malay folk dance) will cheer and spice up the moments and some of the 'Makcik's' will go around chit-chat with each other...Fuh! I can imagine the the buzz even though it still 3 months (or so..) away!
When the wedding take place, I'll share some photos with this website and hope the visitors (especially non-Malaysian) will have a glimpse of 'Malay wedding' and maybe someday, they are interested enough to come here and experience it!
