Golfing Malaysia, the East Coast means playing "the game" in Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu. These three provinces are maybe more visited for the National parks (Taman Negara), Cameron Highlands and the tea plantations, Genting Highlands, Bukit Tingi and Frazer Hill. And conveniently I skip the excellent islands where many tourist enjoy themselves with diving in the tropical waters and swim as if in an aquarium

Playing golf in this part of Malaysia should not be discarded. Some of the most scenic golf courts of Malaysia are found here.

Maybe this overview gives fewer golf courses but they are not of lesser quality. On the contrary, golfing on the east coast is another step on the ladder, so to say. The natural beauty is even more abundant then in other areas in Malaysia. So, let's see where you can play.

Awana Kijal Golf, Beach and Spa Resort

The Awana Kijal Golf, Beach and Spa Resort in Terengganu is spectacular located along the 7.6km long private beach. It is a multi functional resort with a great 18 holes, 72 par golf course. The Spa with it's Javanese massage is quite famous in Malaysia.

Astana Golf & Country Club

The Astana Golf & Country Club is the most renown golf club in Kuantan, located only 15 minutes drive from the Kuantan city center. The nickname of this 27 hole, 72 par championship course is "The Gem of the East" which has obviously to do with the way the course is build in the rolling hills. There's a quite a few water elements in the course makes the course a challenge, even for experienced golfers.

Other facilities include tennis courts, swimming pool, sauna, children's playground and a good restaurant.

Bukit Tinggi Golf & Country Club

The Bukit Tinggi Golf & Country Club is a 40 minutes drive from Kuala Lumpur and 10km off the East-West Karak Highway.

Like the Awana, Bukit Tinggi is located in the hills which creates a beautiful natural scenery but also a challenging course. The rolling hills ay 1000 meter altitude make it maybe a bit cooler but not easier. You will play through bunker and water ponds but if you miss the ball might end up in the jungle and will be really lost.

Kuala Terengganu Golf Resort

Kuala Terengganu Golf Resort is the only golf resort to mention near the state capital.  It is located nearby the airport of the state capital. It is an 18 hole, 72 par course with additional facilities as a swimming pool and excellent restaurant.

Kelantan Golf & Country Club

12 km from Kota Bharu and not far from Thailand is located the Kelantan Golf & Country Club. It's the only golf club in Kelantan to mention. There a re no real threats on this flat course but it's a quiet and relaxing place to play your game in the natural beauty of Kelantan.
