Empire and Jungle Pool

Empire Pool

Empire Pool

I recently received from one of the lads (Don Lowe) that features in some of my photos, some pictures of the 2 pools that were used by the lads from 2 Inf Wksp - The Empire Pool which was only accessible from the road up Maxwell Hill & which we believe was fed by the waterfall just above it & the Jungle Pool, lower down, just above the camp that was easily accessed from the perimeter fence. I reckon the Empire Pool is the same as Mr. Gardiner's Garrison Pool.

Don, who was a National Service soldier ( ie Conscripted) and I were able to make contact with each other only a year or so ago after we had both submitted some photos to the Malay & Borneo Veterans website.

I am enclosing these photos as they offer an insight into one of the ways we had to relax after a days work.

Stores Section RAOC 2 Inf. Brigade Workshop
by: Roy Bradbury

To Brian Harvey

Hi Brian

That is me in the centre of the photo leaning back against a rock at the jungle pool.
I sent a photo of the whole stores section including civilians to John Gardiner some time ago and I assume he has sent this on to some of the lads who have been in touch. Anyone who needs a copy let me know at rbrads2@btinternet.com
I remember amongst others Jock Ross and would be interested if anyone knows his whereabouts or any of the others Derek Locker, Lofty Franks etc who served together late 1959 to earl 1961.
