Pulau-Pangkor Newsletter Number 30 February 27, 2007 |
|
| Hello, February is in Malaysia a busy month. It started this year with Thaipusam, then
followed by Chinese New Year. I know quite a few people who are happy it's all
over by the time you read this because it's busy busy busy. Of course I have covered some of the main events
for you in the
So, what else does the Newsletter has to offer:
Happy reading! PS Let me know what you like and what you don't like. All comments are welcome. You can read latest updates in my Blog:
Or, socialize it with: ----------------------------------------- Thaipusam Penang 2007Although this year was not my first experience with the Thaipusam, it was my first time in Pulau Penang. And boy, what a day it was. My friend David, 3 of his children and I went on the first of February to Penang. We spend most of the day watching people. And there was more then enough to see. Here's the story of that day: http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/thaipusam-penang.html And here's the photo report: http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/thaipusam.html ----------------------------------------- Chinese New Year In Kuala Kurau The Chinese population in Malaysia celebrates Chinese New Year on the first day of the New Year. For the Newsletter I already wrote an article: http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/Pulaupangkor_newsletter-special-edition-CNY.html However, the Hokkiens consider the 8th day as the most important. A good reason for me to visit some of my friends in Kuala Kurau to see what special things they do on the 8th day of Chinese New Year. Read more here: http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/chinese-new-year.html or watch some photos http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/hokkien-chinese-new-year.html ----------------------------------------- Monkey see is monkey do? Not everything has to be serious, right? I was at Pangkor a few days after Chinese New Year. As usual I saw a lot of monkeys around. It seemed they too were celebrating the Chinese New Year. And what was even more surprising, those monkeys were quite creative: http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/oranges.html ----------------------------------------- SBI Video Do you like reading manuals? Me neither. Even if it's easy written, it still can be like chewing gum. You may or may not know I use Sitesell as the system to publish my Pulau Pangkor website. Big deal, right? But what if you want to create a successful website like the pulau-pangkor.com? Read manuals until your eyes get sore? It's no longer necessary! Yippie!!! I have created a video that explains the process of building a successful website like your favorite pulau-pangkor.com The video last only THREE minutes. You won't loose precious time. Nothing to loose, everything to win! http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/sbi-tv.html And if you insist of reading, the same information, a bit different presented, is here: http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/complete_site_build_it.html ----------------------------------------- The Pulau Pangkor Books and Multimedia store A complete new feature on Pulau-Pangkor.com are the Pulau Pangkor book and multimedia store. Coming to Malaysia and Pulau Pangkor and in need for books, cd's, dvd's or other multimedia information? The Pulau Pangkor multimedia store is open. It took me sometime to get it running but it is there. Where to find the store? There are several, lets say sub-stores. For some subjects I have created a separate store. For example, if you are checking the pages about tropical weddings, golf or wildlife at Pangkor, you will find references to the specific subject. The central books page is not much changed though you have now a much broader search possibility for your favorite books and other multimedia. Check, as an example, http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/Books.html ----------------------------------------- Destination of the Month: Teluk Ketapang Sandwiched in between Pasir Bogak and Teluk Nipah lies the almost virgin beach of Teluk Ketapang. I am sure Teluk Ketapang is overlooked by many visitors (including me for some time!). The beach is quite small but it's clean. Maybe the lack of any facilities is a reason why few people visit the beach. However, the grass field and the sand are nice and the water is good for swimming. At the pier you can rent boats to circle around Pangkor. Prices are negotiable. More about Pangkor beaches: http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/Pangkor-beaches.html ----------------------------------------- Travel with discounts from 50-75%, possible? Reading phrases like this makes me suspicious. The claim I can travel with so much discount makes me even more suspicious. It must be a scam. However, in this case I know some people who do use this book to get some serious discounts on 4 and 5 star hotels and flight tickets. Look for yourself: http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/travel-secrets ----------------------------------------- Traveling to Bangkok Bangkok is the capital of Thailand, a magic city. Some call Bangkok one big piece of junk, others call it the pearl of Asia. I don't call it anything. All I do is come in Bangkok over the years. And I like the city. Yes, it is busy, it is crowded, it is polluted, it's all true. However, Bangkok has also a lot of beauty to offer. And although some of the beauty is easy to find, think of the famous Royal Palace, other gems are virtually impossible to find without the help of locals. Miss Eng and Miss Buoy are such locals. In the weekend I was in Bangkok they showed me a few of such gems. They basically wanted me to show that their website about Bangkok was only a glimpse of what Bangkok offers. Do not get me wrong, the Lets-tour Bangkok is extensive. I spend a lot of time on their site and found many things I love. And I keep coming back to the website because they keep on going to add more valuable information about Bangkok. Eng and Buoy write with passion about Bangkok. And thus I recommend their website because I love the work they do, will you enjoy it too? http://www.lets-tour-bangkok.com/ ----------------------------------------- Teambuilding facilities in Pangkor, Lumut and Teluk Batik When people think of Pangkor, they think of a holiday. But what if you have a company and want to organize a few days out? Training and working together in a very different way then normal? That question came to me a few weeks back when I met Mr. Goh. He had the solution at hand. http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/teambuilding-in-pangkor.html -----------------------------------------
