Pangkor Newsletter No. 67: Thaipusam, CNY & Chap Goh Meh, India and Pangkor Hotels March 02, 2010 |
||||||||
| Hello, January and February are busy months. Thaipusam, Chinese New Year, for many this period is the best time of the year. I was lucky enough to enjoy to be in Penang for the Thaipusam and Chinese New Year, the Year of the Tiger, followed by the Chap Goh Meh celebrations. Obviously I have written about these two
amazing festivals (it was my 4th time at the Thaipusam and I was again very impressed).
Happy reading!

Recently a new service has started. Starshuttle operates 6 (yes, SIX) times a day from KLIA and the LCC terminal a service to Sitiawan. Useful for the Pangkor traveler? You bet! Sitiawan is only 9km from Lumut and a taxi from Sitiawan to Lumut will cost you only RM 12. The bus takes 5 hours depending on eventual traffic jams and skips Kuala Lumpur city center! International travelers can therefore directly travel to Pangkor without having the hassle of going into KL and find a bus or try to find a taxi at the airport. Personally I am very happy with the service. Oh, the time schedule... yes of course: - http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/transport-in-perak.html ==================================== Traveling in India ==================================== I've spend a year in India. India, as I usually explain it, is not a country, it's a continent. It is so big, there's so much to see, there are so many different people and different cultures you can easily spend a lifetime in India. My favorite area? That would depend on when you ask me. Today it might be Rajasthan where I spend about 2 months. But I loved, Sikkim, Kashmir and Ladakh, The Seven Sisters (Assam and the states of North East India, where I spend a couple of weeks where excellent. To relax, the Andaman Islands were terrific. I really enjoyed my brief stay in Chennai, Malamapuram and Mysore. When you talk about monuments, it's Hampi, Ellora and Anjanta Caves which are fantastic. And what to think of Khajuraho? There's so much. When I started writing I realized how many place I have not been. No I haven't been in Bombay nor Goa, I've skipped Kerala. Apart of Chennai I haven't seen anything on the east coast too. Like I said, one life is not enough to explore all of India. So, I have to go back, one day. - http://www.bicycle-adventures.com/traveling-in-india.html ==================================== Batu Uban: The Sanctuary ==================================== A while back we told you about a new project in Batu Uban called the Sanctuary.
