Pangkor in December
by: Peter

It's technically wet season on the west coast but it is the best time to visit Pangkor. Rain will (IF) mostly at night. If I would want to come to Pangkor I would choose the period November to February.

I am going to Pangkor Island and am thinking of driving there. Is anyone able to help with:

1) Driving directions from Singapore to Pangkor
2) Secure parking spaces at Lumut Jetty

Any food recommendations in Pangkor will be appreciated as well :)

You could have read this page:

Behind the bus station in Lumut is a secure parking garage. Not sure how much it costs.

pangkor budget travel
by: Peter

RM 150-200, is that per day? If so you have choices. Several hotels offer accommodation around RM 100. Check for example: http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/Backpackers-in-Pangkor.html

Cheapest is probably the Nipah Nazrih Camp. Don't expect much luxury.

Nipah Guesthouse has new cheap chalets available. You may want to contact them for prices.

Solo Female Traveler

by sha
(Singapore)

Hi

I am a twenty one year old female from Singapore. I'm gonna be in KL for a few days in AUGUST 2010 and am thinking of a day trip to Pangkor.

Is Pangkor solo travelers-friendly?

Is one day in Pangkor sufficient?

I'm interested in canoeing around the island but I heard such an activity requires at least a certain number of people. Does that mean I cant sign up for a session alone?

If I were to take a bus from KL, what time should I leave KL and what's the latest and safe time to leave Pangkor?

Any kind of contributions would be very much appreciated!

Many thanks!

About Pangkor
by: Anonymous always go Pangkor

Hi Solo Female Traveler,
When You are in Pangkor Island, You feel like home. It depends on your budget. From RM60 to RM200 at Nipah Bay. Nipah Bay beach is clean (free),snorkerling RM20 including 2 way boat riding and equipment , see a lot of fish, many europeans, many people kayaking RM15 per hour( I enjoy kayaking to an island without any people, sitting there and relax,20 min from Nipah Bay).
The best is 2 nights.
From Lumut to Pangkor Island ferry RM5.00 30 minutes time interval 7am to 7pm
Take a van taxi Rm10(occupy whole van) to Nipah Bay Beach(just say Horizon Inn). or you can share with others.
There are more than 15 hotels in Nipah Bay. Take a look all the hotels until you feel comfortable (dont worry, many rooms there(by cash, someaccept credit card).Eat ikan bakar at beach side RM15 or Singapore mihun RM5 or pay more if you want better food.

You will like Pangkor Island.

Pangkor

Pangkor Island is relatively a very peaceful and non commercialize island , perfect for those who seek solitude and want to do nothing and lazed around. You can take a bus from KL ( I think Pudu Bus Station is now under renovation and will only be ready in 4 months time and not sure which station you can board bus to Pangkor , sorry I dont have the info with me now) The bus trip would take about 4 hours to Lumut Jetty. From Lumut Jetty you could take the public ferry to Pangkor for a return fair of RM10.00. It is just a 30 minutes ride. The Island is pretty safe. Yes I would not recommend for you to canoe alone around the island without a companion , for safety reasons or in case of any emergency.
There are many local Chalets on the Island which is reasonably priced.

My Resort is the Pangkor Island Beach Resort and you could check up on our website for more details. If I can be of any further assistance please do let me know. Jimmy Yeo

Travel to Lumut & Pulau Pangkor

I am planning for a budget trip there from 4-6 Nov (most probably 1 night at Lumut and the other at Pulau Pangkor)? Does it often rain nowadays?
I plan to cycle around the island and do some snorkelling.

Understand that there is not much issue for female who travels solo, any other advices that I should take note on?

How about tourist spots that I should not miss?
Thanks in advance for answering!

Cheers,
Lee
