Reef diving Malaysia

How about reef diving?
Healthy and diverse coral reefs are only available at certain parts on this planet. The islands and the seas around the South East Asia countries are some of the lucky areas.

In order to grow and thrive, the corals need the correct temperature, sea conditions and also other marine life to create biodiversity. Global warming and extreme weather upsets such as El Nino and La Nina can affect the circle of life in the coral reefs.

They are delicate life forms, the balance is easily disturbed by any changes such as the pH level of the sea water or any introduction of foreign materials. It is not easy, during these modern times, to maintain such condition as the larger part of the ocean are polluted.

reef divingSport diving can create awareness about the plight of the coral reefs. From the Andaman sea, reef diving is popular at the waters of Myanmar and Thailand. In northern Sumatra, pristine coral reefs are still available. On the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, the islands of Perhentian, Redang, Tenggol and Tioman have some fantastic possibilities for reef diving.

Around the island of Borneo and the atolls bordering the Philippines, we have countless dive sites too. Sipadan, Mabul and Layang-Layang are still part of Malaysia, but beyond these islands, there are certain parts which are relatively not known. Modern civilization and heavy pollution still have not catch up in those areas due to the fact that they are not easily accessible and the trip to get there requires a whole lot more cash expenditure and time.

Then, there is the question of finding a reputable diving company or a dive tour leader who is knowledgeable about the areas but also bound by honor and integrity that he would not run with your hard-earned money and only deliver the best services.
