Hi Brian What a great memory you have. I actually joined the Army at @inf workshops (my father was in the RASC, serving close by) I returned to 2 inf in 1060 to be part of the hand over to a Malay unit. We moved on to Malacca.
I did return to the camp recently to show my daughter where my Army life started, it was a weekend and the officer of the day gave us a conducted visit. Wow it felt strange returning after almost half a century and little had changed, Taiping hold a very close bond for me. the memories there are my closest. it is simply a paradise.
