Gua Tempurung

The longest, and at some places darkest caves of Malaysia, around 3 km long, are the caves of Gua Temperung.  How about a few hours under the ground into the mountains of Perak?  Of course, we won't let you go without professional guides.  For the more adventurous people, if the water level allows, you can go deep in the caves, duck walking through the holes, sometimes the water is chest deep!

Entrance of the Gua Tempurung caves

Or, if you want to see how the caves were formed and see the strange rock formations, an easy stairs path swindles through the mountain. On the way the guides will explain in English and Malay what you see. Some structures may look like a dragon, man, woman or whatever you want to see in them. Stalactites and stalagmites grow with a "speed" of about an inch a century.

Doing the cave tour is another great experience.  And it's seldom busy.  Not because the caves are not worth to visit but because they are quite unknown. And as it goes: unknown makes unwanted but not always unworthy. The Gua Tempurung caves are worth a visit, book now!

Jungle trekking

Kinta Valley is the county in which Kampar was built during the tin mining days. The hills are almost next door to the town. If you have a room looking east, you will see the hills right in front of you. Around Kampar some of the hills are in use for agriculture and timber but most of the hills are bare dense jungle. The hotel has professional guides to take you in the jungle and if you are lucky, you will see the Rafflesia, the world's biggest flower.

Rafflessia, you may be lucky to see it in your jungle tracking
Rafflesia, you may be lucky to see it in your jungle tracking but as you see, I was unlucky, I didn't see the flower in blossom

Kampar Town

Although small, Kampar, in the Kinta Valley at the foot of Cameron Highlands. The Gua Tempurung are nearby, but how about fishing in the artificial lakes which originated after the tine miners left... or a jungle trek to see the worlds largest flower...
