Beach Bumming in Perhentian Kecil

View of Long Beach, Perhentian Kecil
Coming from Kuala Besut, I just couldn't believe my eyes when I caught my first glimpse of the perfect white beaches of Perhentian Kecil, and the crystal clear water. I thought I died, and went to heaven.
Me and my boyfriend spent our nights on Long Beach, the ?backpacker? beach in Kecil.
It was amazing because we didn't have to share the beach with large groups of people and the June weather was perfect! We stayed on Panorama Chalets which is a great option for budget accommodation, but I have to admit that I fell in love with Bubu's Resort. After staying on hostels almost the entire trip, we certainly appreciated the comfy bed with white sheets and hot showers at Bubu's!
Even if you?re backpacking cheap, there?s no sin in splurging! ;-) See my traveling in Perhentian Kecil
Highlight of our stay on Perhentian Kecil was snorkeling around the neighboring island: Perhentian Besar. Several dive shops are accessible on Long Beach, but we decided to admire the underwater beauty from the surface.
Five snorkeling spots were on the agenda: Turtle Point, Fish Garden, Shark Point, Coral Garden, and Turtle Beach. You?ll get to see green turtles, sting rays, giant parrot fish, squids and fish in colors you didn't even know existed and my favorite: black tip sharks. Witnessing this great diversity of marine life is something that I will never forget!
After the snorkeling, go and relax at Palm Tree Café where you can enjoy the upfront ocean view while you?re digging your mouth into Nasi dishes or pineapple fried rice. And don?t forget to wash it down with cold Tiger Beer!
If you love to beach bum, I?m confident that you will enjoy your stay on the Perhentian beaches! Yes, it?s the typical beach life of sun bathing, diving and partying. Some travelers will probably get restless because there aren?t that many activities to choose from. But either way, the beauty of Perhentian will blind you. I?m definitely returning to this paradise.
