A Place Like Home

by Moe
(Germany)

I first visited Pangkor in 1985 and have returned almost every year since. In fact, there are so many fond childhood and youth memories tied to Pangkor that I would almost call it a home from home.

Now that the PanPac hotel has closed (although I am sure that the beach is still the best on the Island), the absolute highlight of any visit to Pangkor would have to be Guan Guan Restaurant. The Chili Crab, Satay Fish and Curry LaLa are absolutely awesome and you have not eaten good seafood if you have not tried their specials. It is always a little surreal, but certainly memorable, eating Chili Crab while listening Sua and Yam (the owner's of Guan Guan) put on German Marching Music.

Looking forward to return soon.

Cheers

Note from Peter: The PanPac is now the Pangkor Island Beach Resort
