Pulau Pangkor Newsletter No. 49, jungle trekking, yangshuo, tai chi and much more October 04, 2008 |
| Hello, Welcome again to a new edition of the Pulau Pangkor Newsletter. As I have been for a few weeks in China, I have not had much time to ad new pages to the Pangkor website. And when I came back Mr. and Mrs. Goh from Explore the Wilderness (our team building company here in Sitiawan) invited me for the celebration of his sons wedding. We wish Mr. Goh's son Steven and his wife a happy marriage and life. There are more stories to tell. So where do we start?

==================================== Last week I spend some time in the jungle in between Teluk Batik and Teluk Rubiah. My job was to keep an eye on the rope course Mr. Goh has build here. We had a school from Penang visiting. Kids of 11 to 13 years old. It was good fun. Earlier I wrote about schools we have visiting: http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/school-camp-in-teluk-batik.html and http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/trekking-around-teluk-rubiah.html But I also did a jungle trek of about 4 hours with two children of 6 and 10 years old. Crazy? Irresponsible? The kids enjoyed it, here's the story: http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/jungle-trekking-with-children.html ==================================== The Pangkor website is based on building a business with solid content. But how do you earn money, is what some ask me. One way is Adsense. Adsense is an advertising tool from Google and it pays me well. Why is Google so eager to pay me instead of me paying Google? The answer is in fact quite simple. Google needs websites with high targeted content to place ads about that subject. The better the content is focuses, the happier Google is. If you look around at the Pangkor website you will find everywhere high targeted ads by Google. So the better you focus your content, the better Google ads you get. What does it have to do with Sitesell? Everything! Adsense and Sitesell are like a Siamese twin. The Pangkor website is build based on the idea of building solid traffic with solid content. And as Adsense needs highly targeted websites, I earn from Google, it is a win-win situation! This page explains the process in much more detail: http://adsense.sitesell.com/webselling64290.html ==================================== Imp told us he has still some space for his diving adventures. Book now and go out with Imp to some almost unknown dive spots. We have been able to set up a connection with a divemaster Imran Ahmad, also known as Imp. He has excellent tours in East Malaysia and Indonesia available. Plus, he is an extraordinary photographer. We are happy he allowed us to use some of his photos. Check it out http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/diving-in-komodo.html http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/diving-in-raja-ampat.html ==================================== The last weeks I have been in Yangshuo China. Yangshuo, a small but lively tourist destination just south of Guilin, China is famous for many things. Especially the karst limestone mountains are spectacular. Apart of Ha Long Bay in Vietnam I have not seen such a place of limestone mountains. It's therefore not surprising that learning Tai Chi is not on the map of "to do" activities. This is too bad as Luo Mei Juan's Long Tou Shan Martial Arts School is the single best place to learn Tai Chi or other martial arts. Mei is one of the few female Traditional Wushu Advanced Trainers in China and a multiple gold medal winner in various international contests. If Tai Chi, Kung Fu, Yoga or other traditional Chinese martial arts are of your interest, Mei's Long Tou Shan Martial Arts School is where you want to study. http://www.yangshuo-travel-guide.com/tai-chi-yangshuo.html ______________________Advertisement__________
Timeshare
Timeshares afford vacationers the opportunity to visit their favorite vacation destination year after year without struggling to find appropriate accommodations. Because they offer pre-paid, week long accommodation, timeshares relieve much of the hassle of seeking out clean, comfortable hotels or motels and securing daily accommodation. Renting day-to-day space at a hotel can often prove quite costly. Owning vacation property in your favorite destination, like Pulau Pangkor, offers a great alternative that can be very cost-effective. Doesn't this sound great? Come on in and read more here: http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/timeshare.html ____________________________________________ ==================================== Formerly known as the Pan Pacific, the Pangkor Island Beach Resort is one of the top hotels in Pangkor. It's located in Teluk Belanda, with a private beach and mini golf course (it's indeed very mini). The beach is very nice and clean and with swimming, canoeing, fishing, hiking and much more the Pangkor Island Beach resort has everything you want for a relaxing holiday. I almost forgot to mention, the restaurants are excellent, please try the fish dishes, they are suburb. http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/Pangkor-Island-Beach-Resort.html and you can book here http://www.hotelscombined.com./Hotel/Pangkor_Island_Beach_Resort_Perak.htm?a_aid=0d506ab5 ==================================== Kampar is a nice sleepy town just south of Ipoh. There isn't a lot to do in Kampar... or... actually the statement is not correct. Kampar has quite a few attractions in town and in the area. See for more details: http://www.pulau-pangkor.com/kampar.html Kevin Lee send us a link of his blog with many more photos of Kampar. It's worth checking it out! http://www.kampar.net/2008/08/merdeka-special-highlights-of-kampar.html ==================================== As you may know, I like Yangshuo, have been there many times over the years but as I live nowadays in Malaysia, Yangshuo is a long way. That problem is now partly solved by Airasia. They fly 3 times a week to Guilin (with 65 km from Yangshuo the nearest airport). Our guide and tour operator Jessie organizes a taxi and with 5 hours I am back in the town I love so much and where I spend much time of my life over the years. But where to stay? Your single best option is the Snow Lion Resort, 15 minutes outside Yangshuo town in Mushan village. If you want to get out, you want to stay as local as possible and still have all the luxury you want, the Snow Lion Resort is your choice. http://www.yangshuo-travel-guide.com/snow-lion-resort.html and read also more about Mushan, for a village of about 800 people it has a remarkable history. http://www.yangshuo-travel-guide.com/mushan-village.html ==================================== 123greetings.com is your no.1 choice for sending online e-cards.
