| Hello, Welcome to a new edition of the
The newsletter is quite short since I am still on the way back home to Malaysia. However, the main news from Pangkor didn't skip my attention. Mansourah and Salman's extra-ordinary performance reached me when I was in China! You will have a report in this edition of the

----------------------------------------- Salman (9) and Mansourah (15) swim from Pangkor to Lumut You have read about it already since it happened a few weeks back. Two children from Seri Manjung did what many grown ups think is impossible: the two swam from Pangkor to Lumut! Mansourah and Salman, 15 and 8 years old from Seri Manjung went for a real challenge. They have been practising for months for this challenge. Almost every free time they had they spend in the swimmingpool in Ipoh. Further, with help from the Royal Malaysian Navy, they went in Pangkor Town in the water for their 8.9 km challenge. The first part of their challenge went quite easy but once in the Dindingh Straits to Lumut itself, the current was the strongest opponent. The two swam the 8.9 km in 3 hours and 40 minutes. The next goal of Salman is to be the first Malaysian to cross the Straits of Malacca when he turns 12. His sister has no desire in this since she wants to focus on her study. However, swimming will not disappear from her life as she hopes to get her lifeguard licence next year and work part-time as a women’s swimming coach. With their performance the two brave children were presented a cheque of RM 10.000 wish was donated to the Victims of Child Abuse Fund. ----------------------------------------- Teluk Ketapang To my shame I have to admit, I complete forgot to mention one very nice beach at Pulau Pangkor. It's not I had never been to this beach, on the contrary. Whenever I am at Pangkor, I usually make a stop here because it is always very quiet. Teluk Ketapang is sandwiched between Nipah Bay and Pasir Bogak. In fact, when you pass Pasir Bogak, you climb up a hill and from there go down to Teluk Ketapang. There are no hotels, guesthouses or even restaurant or foodstalls available. Maybe that's why it is always quiet. Have a look here for more about Teluk Ketapang. ----------------------------------------- The Three Degrees in Ipoh Disco Legends The Three Degrees do a one night show in Ipoh. Nothing to do on 31st March 2006? Why not visit the show in Ipoh! Or -----------------------------------------
